Meet One of WPI’s Current Heroes
John Solvie; Clark County Water Quality
I began volunteering with WPI in 2000 as a member of a Validation & Examination Committee (now called Scheme Committees). Scheme committees update, validate, and maintain WPI’s array of certification exams. My involvement afforded me an opportunity to explore other roles within WPI, which ultimately led to serving as Board Chair and my current role as Chair of WPI’s Certification Commission for Environmental Professionals (C2EP). C2EP is responsible for the Professional Operator program.
WPI’s targeted mission to remain psychometrically valid in all aspects of certification requires expertise from multiple stakeholders, representing every sector of the industry. Serving as a WPI volunteer is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the water sector on local, state, provincial, and international levels.
A deeply rewarding part of serving with WPI has been forging professional and personal relationships through the years. Collaborating with diverse sectors of the industry has provided me with broad perspectives on water sector matters. On a personal level, WPI takes great care of its volunteers.
If you are considering becoming a WPI volunteer, just do it. You won’t be disappointed.
